today after my Karate class, Mom took us to the park where we like most. Just when we arrived, there was an icecream car driving around. Mom said we could have a special treat today---buying icecream/lolipop thing from the icecream car. It will be the time we bought icecream from the icecream car. haha...

But when we got out of our car, the icecream car was driving away. We had to see it leaving disappointedly.
No matter what, we enjoyed playing in the park. Not long later, the icecream car came back. Mom kept her promise-- we got our special treat from the icecream car.

Differences!

Didi and I are on different stages. I am interested in opening car door by myself these days. While he is trying hard to pull up his pants by himself. Plus, he is interested in closing the doors. He doesn't figure out how to open the door yet.
My favorite color is red. His is blue. One day, he even wanted a blue hair string for him when he saw I was choosing the red ones.
He difinitely knows that he is a boy and I am a girl. Some time, he just could not make the exact distinguishment. He also likes wearing my dress shoes, not his own. He especially likes wearing my dress shoes backward. It is very funny!

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Valentine's Day!!

This weekend is the Chinese New Year (the year of tiger). And Sunday is Valentine's Day. As a Chinese and American mixed family, we do have a lot of activities. Tuesday morning, we had a Valintine's Party at the Library. Thursday night, we went to make Valintine's card at Parenting Cottage. Friday night, we had a celebration party at Chinese church. Our group (small class of Sunday school at Chinese church) sang two songs-- Happy New Year and Jesus loves me. Saturday night, we went to the ACSSL--Association of Chinese Scholars and Students of Lubbock. We got on the real big stage to sing for soooo many people. haha...

We did get the red envelope from the Chinese church. Our Doctors also gave us red envelope, too.

This is the real snow in Lubbock

This week, we got a real snow like what it is in Mom's hometown. We love to see the beautiful white. (Certainly, it is not nice to see how hard the traffic is after the snow.) Thursday, we just stayed home, watching the snow falling down softly and gentlely. Friday afternoon, we got out of our house to see Didi's doctor. It was so nice to see all the roads, the houses, the trees covered by the white snow. And you also could see some snowmen and snow forts people built. There were some branches, even very big ones that broke. It is sad to see that.

Didi Happy Birthday!

Didi is two years old today. Happy Birthday, Didi!
I was very excited for his birthday. I woke up before him. Once I heard he was awake, I went to his bed and sang Happy Birthday to him. He seemed that he didn't care. Mom took us to the Science musum. We played with the other playmates. We had crispy cream for our desert. They seemed all liked it. Afternoon while Didi took nap, Mom and I started making cake for him. This year, I participated more---cracking the egg, open the mix pacakge, pour the oil and water, mix the flour, and grease the pan. I also thought about what kind of shape of the cake we should make and what kind of animal pattern we should design since he liked animals so much. Anyway, finally, we just put some chocolate cookies on the top of the cake. We thought it was a good pattern for a cow.
we went to see a movie called wolves in the Omni Theater. It was fun. Hugh liked it very much.

Around Thanksgiving, Mom and I started studying Phonics based on a book. There are 100 lessons. We have studied 41 of them. On Christmas, they even bought me another two sets of phonics books. Each one has 10 books. I have read 5 of the level 1 set. It is nice that you can read yourself. haha.. Each time, after I read one whole book all by myself, I will get a sticker. It is great! I am looking forward to finishing the 100 lessons.

we had a wonderful trip to SC and certainly we also had a great time with Yeye and Nainai.

We planned to drive three days each way, but we made it in two days. It all owned to our excellent behaving in the car. We didn't call Yeye and Nainai when we would arrive. We just showed up at their door at 11:00pm. It was nice to see Yeye opening the door and embraced us into his arms.

While we were there. We went to the Myrtle beach and the zoo in NC. We also drove around the town to see the schools where Dad went. We went to a movie for the New Year. We enjoyed watching movie with family. Then we spent most time at home, eating delicious food, watching TV,playing with Yeye and Nainai. I always asked whether they were dad's toys whenever they brought out toys for us to play. Both Hugh and I played a lot of puzzles.

Certainly, on Christmas Day, we got a lot of gifts, too.

On the way back, we stopped at Atalanta. We went to the Acquriam there. It is nice to see the big whaleshark and the stingray. I even patted one stingray. In Dallas, we had a wonderful Chinese food for dinner.

Thursday we went to the Parenting Cottage monthly meeting with Mom. This month their topic is about nutrition. While Mom were listening to the lecture about nutrition for kids, we were helped to make a platemat and a chef hat.
Mom was encouraged by the lecture and decided to improve the food quality of our family ---to ballance our nutrition with right amount of meet, vegetables, fruit and so on. we will see. Certainly, parents should be a good example.
We did practice our cooking skill on Friday. I enjoyed using the food cutter and the coloring.
Funny Didi and "Poetic" Me!

Didi is funny. Most time he is very brave, but these days, sometime he becomes timid or he often scares himself. For example, he will say "lang lai le, jiuming a!" (The wolf is coming, Resecue!) Or " Eyu lai le ,chi ni la !" ( The corocodile is coming to eat you!) Even while he is playing, he will say that and run to Mom. Oh, one more thing, Didi could distinguish "I" or "you" right now. That is really impressed to my parents. They said it took me a long time to figure out that.

" You are my Mommy, I love you. Don't sad look at me. I go downstair. I quiet and lay down. You is my Mommy." haha. this is what I wrote to my Mom this afternoon. Ok, let me tell you the whole story. Today she took us to the park. We played there a lot. When it was our naptime, we came back. She just expected us to take a nap as usual. But we were too excited and plus the fall time changed, we just didn't want to sleep. She became very upset. For a while, she tried to leave us alone and she hid herself in her room. So I wrote down this poem on the stairs in my special writing style. Later, I showed my Mom and told her what I wrote. Then she copied down what I read to her. After she read and listened what I wrote, her anger was gone.

How we celebrate the Holloween!

In the morning we went to a farm where there was corn maze. The wheather is great. We four really enjoyed waling in the maize ( certainly there were occasions when you took wrong way. It was frustrated.) We chose two sets of questions. one is Biblical questions, and another one is kiddo questions. haha.. Didi and I walked most part of the maze. And we really enjoyed looking for the numbers and answering the questions, then choosing the direction. It took us one and half hour to go through the maze.
We did take the cow train. It was fun. But Didi kept sing the song from the DVD "the wheel on the bus". He also kept doing bumping while we took the ride.
We did go to see the animals, but it was disappointed. There were no cows, which were Didi want to see. In fact, before we went, he also mentioned that he wanted to see crocodile. I think he confuses farm with zoo. haha..
On the way back we took a good nap. This is a good preparation for us to go trick or treating in the mall in the evening. We liked walking around to get candies. Once Didi got some, he just started eating. I wanted to get more. Later I was really tired. I also wanted to stand on the stroller with Did, but unluckily, I dumped my candy box, so all my candies fell on the floor. Immeditately several girls came to pick up the candies. I was really scared that they would take them away. But they didn't. Instead, they kindly put the candies into my box. This really calmed me down a lot. Or all people in the mall would hear my crying.

On the way back home, we got treat from Daddy, too. He took us to the Crispy Cream. So we got a dozen doughnuts plus free samples. haha...

Once we got home, we cut on the light at the front door, showing that we had treat. This year, we did have a lot of kids. I enjoyed giving them the treat. I wanted to be nice to them because we were treated nicely in the mall. But some bigger kids saw me ( a little girl ) who was giving the treat, they would not come and turned around and left. That is pitty.

PS. I really don't like the spooky decoration or the costume. I think my ladybug and Didi's black cat are good enough.

After two weeks "rest", today I started my BSF and Awana which are two programs I like most.

It is so fun to stay in China for the two months, but it is also a too long trip. We had to change so many flights and waited so many hours at the airport. Untill we were walking out the airport of Lubbock did I realize that we were in America. I was very sure that I was on the American Land and I was very excited to see the American Flag and the Texas Flag when we drove home.

While we were in China from July 28th till Oct.6, 2009, we went numerous places and met numberous people. It is a real fun time for us to explore and adapt to the life there.
Didi made a great improvement for his language. He could see most of words in Chinese and sometimes, he could see a "long" sentence. It is scaring. Certainly, with his language development, we could have better communication with him and he could give more direct and clearer demands, too. haha...

It is always fun to celebrate birthday. So do I. In fact, I got my presents from Yeye and Nainai on Thursday, so I agreed to wait till my birthday to open it. These five days seemed very long.
In fact, I got a surprise celebration at Saturday night. Our neibours, Ma and Pa, and Auntie Gosia and Uncle Kaz gave me (include my family) a big surprise. They came and brought the very nice cake and a lot of gifts, so my parents decided to celebrate just a day ahead of my birthday. Didi had fun, too.
This year I got some sunflower seeds from the Storytimein the Library. Mom planted them and they did grow good. See we're comparing who will grow faster. Certainly, I would like to water them every day every time by myself. But, no, most time, Mom did. and Didi helped in a unappreciate way.

Most of them could not figure out whom he is because our drawings are very characteristic. haha.. We also sang three songs. I also made a father's Day card for Dad by cutting "products" from BEALS advertisement and sticking on the card. I chose watches for Dad this year.
June11-14 was supposed to be Mom's retreat with friends in VA. Becasue of the bad weather, Mom has to leave on June12, thus, it shorted our times with Dad alone and the time for Dad to take care of us by himself, too. haha...
This is the first time that Mom left us behine for so long since we were born and it is the first time for Mom to take planes by herself. Certainly, it is the first time for Dad to take care of us for soooo long, too.
Both of them did good---Mom was not lost and Dad had a wonderful arrangement for our time together. haha..

Friday night, Dad took us to Ma and Pa's house. Saturday,Dad took us to the movie---UP, then to Mcdoudald for lunch. Both of Didi and I behaved very well during the Movie. We also went to the LifeWay bookstore. I had a fun time there, too. Dad helped us to make a tool box. Sunday,We went to Church and stayed there longer than other Sundays. Dad realy enjoyed the sermon. Sunday night, we went to pick up Mom.

For Mom, she was given a first-class seat on the way from Dallas to Washington. Certainly it is comfortable with good food. Saturday, they had a wonderful Bible study and a great hiking with her friends. It is nice to see different sceneries than those in Lubbock. The farm area is much more green than Lubbock. Sunday early morning, she and here friends had a quick and nice tour of Washington DC.

A Saturday, Dad took us to an Air Show near Lubbock. The sky was very blue. It is so pretty for an Air Show. On the way to the Show spot, both Didi and I were very excited, seeing the planes taking off and flying in the sky. We found a spot close to the speaker in order to hear his explanation clearly.
But both of us were really bothered by the show about Pearl Harbor. We didn't like the bombing. In fact, it really scared Didi a lot. He cried and cried. Later, when we asked him how the plane flying, he would answer "bomb, bomb.."
